82-Year-Old Richard Burton Killed in Accident on East Olive Avenue [Merced, CA]

Tichard Burton Struck and Killed by Vehicle in Merced

 
MERCED, CA (May 11, 2023) – The Merced County Sheriff Coroner’s Office identified 82-year-old Richard Burton of Merced in a fatal pedestrian accident in the 2300 block of East Olive Avenue on May 1.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at approximately 8:18 PM. Based on a report, Burton just left a friend’s home and was walking across the road to his vehicle at the time of the incident.
 
Due to unknown reasons, a sedan driven by a Merced woman struck him.
 
As a result, Merced police officers said Burton suffered grave injuries. Emergency crews transported him to an area trauma center, where he later died.
 
The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with authorities.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
