One Killed after Head-On Crash on Highway 40 at Berthoud Pass

 
IDAHO SPRINGS, CO (April 30, 2024) — One person died after a fatal head-on accident on Highway 40 on Friday, April 19.
 
According to the Colorado State Patrol, the head-on accident occurred on Highway 40 at around 3:20 p.m.
 
CSP confirmed one person died in the crash. Additionally, they said paramedics brought two others to the hospital.
 
Authorities closed Highway 40 in both directions at Berthoud Pass from Mile Point 257 to Mile Point 233 at 3:56 p.m. Friday. They reopened all closed lanes before 9:00 p.m.
 
Officers advised motorists to use an alternate route via westbound 70 Freeway to Silverthorne and Highway 9, north to Highway 40.
