Fatal Plane Crash near Fremont County Airport in Cañon City

 
CAÑON CITY, CO (May 11, 2023) – The Teller County Coroner confirmed that four people died in a small plane crash near the Fremont County Airport on May 6.
 
According to the Colorado State Patrol, the accident happened at approximately 9:30 AM. Based on a report, the single-engine Cessna T-41B was flying from Fremont County Airport to Centennial Airport at the time of the incident.
 
Due to unknown reasons, FAA Public Affairs Specialist Ian Gregor said the plane crashed in a mountainous area southeast of Victor. There was a post-impact fire in the area.
 
Officials located the crash site and declared the four occupants of the plane dead. They did not yet release their identities, pending kin notification.
 
As of now, the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash. In addition, no other details are available.
