Vehicles Catch Fire in Fatal Crash on 10 Freeway in Phoenix

 
PHOENIX, AZ (May 11, 2023) – The Phoenix Fire Department confirmed that two people died in a wrong-way crash on 10 Freeway on May 7.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened near 19th Avenue around 3:24 AM. Based on a report, a Toyota 86 passenger car was traveling west in the eastbound lanes of the freeway prior to the crash.
 
Subsequently, it hit a Ford Escape head-on, causing both vehicles to catch fire and burst into flames. A third car got involved in the crash.
 
As a result, the wrong-way driver, a 25-year-old Texas man, died in the incident. The other driver, a 30-year-old man from Phoenix, also suffered severe injuries and died at the scene.
 
Crews took a 57-year-old woman and two 32-year-old women from the third car to the hospital in serious conditions.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
