Fatal Wrong-Way Crash on Highway 101 in Los Angeles

 
LOS ANGELES, CA (May 11, 2023) – Officers confirmed that a driver died in a wrong-way crash on southbound Highway 101 on May 8.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near the Santa Monica Boulevard exit around 4:00 AM. Based on a report, the victim was driving a red Prius on the fast lane around 80 mph in the wrong direction prior to the crash.
 
Subsequently, the car sideswiped a sedan and later crashed into a pickup truck. Then, the impact caused both cars to go up in flames.
 
As a result, the wrong-way driver suffered grave injuries and died at the scene. Officials did not yet release his name, pending kin notification.
 
Crews transported one person to a hospital. Two others suffered minor, non-life-threatening injuries.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
