Nine Vehicles Involved in Fatal Police Chase Accident on Pacific Coast Highway near 5th Street in Seal Beach

 
SEAL BEACH, CA (March 31, 2023) Seal Beach police confirmed that one person died in a police chase accident on Pacific Coast Highway on March 29.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near 5th Street shortly after 8:00 PM.
 
Based on a report, officers attempted to pull over a female driver for a traffic violation near the intersection of Pacific Coast and 5th. Subsequently, the driver’s male passenger switched seats and took off, initiating the pursuit. The man then drove on the wrong-way before the he crashed into nine other vehicles.
 
As a result, one person in one of the vehicles died in the incident.
 
Paramedics had to extricate and rescue multiple victims using the Jaws of Life. They rushed six people to the hospital in unknown conditions.
 
Police said the suspect exited the vehicle and fled on foot but officers were able to catch him Crews transported him, his female passenger and an infant to the hospital for treatment of injuries.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
