AUSTIN, TX (December 13, 2022) – One person died of injuries after a car struck a fence at 5014 Martin Avenue on Saturday, December 3.

The Austin-Travis County EMS arrived to the scene at 8:52 p.m. near East 51st Street, located between Duval Street and Airport Boulevard.

One person was discovered trapped inside the vehicle when the medics arrived. The factors that led to the crash are still under investigation.

According to responders, the person succumbed to injuries and later died.

Another person was found and transported to Dell Seton Medical Center with injuries. Initially, responders thought it was a minor injury, but discovered 20 minutes later that it was potentially serious.

The affected street was prohibited for public use as the investigation continued. Motorists are advised to take alternative routes while the Austin police cleared the scene.
