Anastasia Dombrowski Killed after Gilbert DUI Crash; Harrison Ward Detained

 
GILBERT, AZ (April 29, 2024) — One person identified as 20-year-old Anastasia Dombrowski died in a DUI crash on Thursday, April 18.
 
According to the Gilbert police, the crash occurred shortly after 2:00 a.m. near Williams Field Road and Recker Road.
 
Officials said the incident happened when 23-year-old Harrison Ward drove a white 2012 Ford F250 the wrong way on Williams Field Road at a high rate of speed. After that, he collided head-on into a 2017 Hyundai Elantra.
 
Then Ward’s pickup struck a light pole and kept traveling east until it came to rest just east of the intersection.
 
Dombrowski, who drove the driver of the second vehicle, died at the scene.
 
Paramedics transported Ward to a medical center for precautionary reasons. After that, officers later booked him for second-degree murder and aggravated DUI.
 
Authorities closed the intersection of Williams Field and Recker for several hours. They reopened all closed lanes at 9:30 a.m.
 
This crash is still under investigation.
