Tyler Thompson Killed in Lubbock Car Crash on County Road 1700

LUBBOCK, TX (April 29, 2024) — A 21-year-old man from Littlefield, identified as Tyler Obed Thompson, died in an accident on Thursday, April 18.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash happened on North County Road 1700 at around 7:52 p.m.

Investigators believe 61-year-old Daimon Dale Knight of Lubbock drove a 2022 Chevrolet Equinox southbound on North County Road 1700.

Then he crossed over the center stripe into the northbound lane. That caused the Equinox to crash into a vehicle driven by 21-year-old Kahlil Lamont De Vaughn of Littlefield.

Texas DPS said that Knight and De Vaughn received treatment for minor injuries.

Meanwhile, Thompson, a passenger of the second, sustained serious injuries. Paramedics transported him to University Medical Center in Lubbock, where he died.

The weather and road conditions were clear and dry when the crash happened.

DPS said the investigation is still underway. There are no further details about the collision available.
