Linh Phan and Stephanie Phan Ha Killed, Jonathan Arrendondo-Garcia Arrested in Sacramento Car Crash

 
SACRAMENTO, CA (January 30, 2023) – Two people died after a stolen car rad a red light and crashed on Florin Perkins Road and Florin Road on Thursday, January 19.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office identified the woman as 49-year-old Stephanie Phan Ha and 49-year-old Linh Phan.

According to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened at about 10:15 a.m. Based on reports, a suspect carjacked an SUV from a garage.

Soon after, the suspect quickly approached the intersection of Florin Road and Florin-Perkins Road about a mile away. Authorities say the suspect ran a red light and violently crashed into two other vehicles.

Ha and Phan were in one of the vehicles that were hit. Due to injuries, both died in the accident.

Linh’s family set up a GoFundMe to help with her two children and funeral expenses.

A Las Vegas resident was driving a third vehicle involved in the collision. Authorities treated that person at the scene for complaints of pain.

Authorities said the 22-year-old suspect, identified as Jonathan Arrendondo-Garcia of Sacramento, sustained minor injuries. He will be booked into Sacramento County Main Jail after his release.

He faces charges of DUI causing death, felony hit-and-run, and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
