Devany Betancourt Dies in Frankston Car Crash on Highway 175

 
FRANKSTON, TX (December 5, 2022) — Troopers with the Department of Public Safety are investigating a two-car accident that left one passenger dead and another injured on Tuesday night, November 29.

18-year-old Devany Betancourt, also known by her stage name as Divina, was killed in the car accident on Highway 175.

According to the Department of Public Safety, a 2010 Ford Fusion driven by 18-year-old Alex Garcia of Frankston was traveling eastbound on US Highway 175, eight miles east of Frankston.

Garcia began to make a left turn onto ACR 3051 when he failed to yield the right-of-way, turning left and entering the path of a 2007 Subaru Tribeca, driven by 22-year-old Omar Perez of Grand Prairie.

Perez was traveling westbound on US Highway 175. Perez’s Subaru Tribeca struck Garcia’s Ford Fusion on the right passenger side.

Garcia’s passenger – identified as Betancourt – was pronounced dead at the scene by a Justice of the Peace. A GoFundMe was created for Divina Betancourt to help her family with funeral expenses.

Perez’s passenger, 20-year-old Anna Lorena of Grand Prairie, was transported to a Tyler hospital for non-incapacitating injuries.

It is unclear if both drivers sustained injuries.

No other information is available at this time. However, the factors surrounding the crash remain under investigation.
