75-Year-Old Jimmy Hayes Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash on Loop 323 [Tyler, TX]

Jimmy Hayes Identified in Fatal Car Crash in Tyler

 
TYLER, TX (May 15, 2023) – The Tyler Police Department identified 75-year-old Jimmy Hayes of Tyler in a fatal multi-vehicle crash on Loop 323 on May 10.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at Pointe N Drive around 3:08 PM. Based on a report, Hayes and two other drivers were stopped in the eastbound turn lane of Loop 323 at the time of the crash.
 
Due to unknown reasons, Hayes’ Ford F-150 veered left from the straight lane of traffic into the turn lane and struck the rear of another vehicle stopped in the turn lane. The impact pushed that car forward into the vehicle in front of it and so on to the next two vehicles.
 
As a result, Hayes suffered grave injuries and died in the incident.
 
An occupant of one of the other vehicles was taken to a local hospital by EMS with non-life threatening injuries.
 
As of now, the case remains under investigation. In addition, no other details are available.
