Christopher Cassel Identified in Fatal Bicycle Accident in Hayward

 
HAYWARD, CA (May 15, 2023) – The Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau identified 29-year-old Christopher Cassel of Salinas in a fatal bicycle accident on 880 Freeway on May 7.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at eastbound Tennyson Road around 10:30 PM. Based on a report, Cassel was riding a bicycle near the intersection at the time of the crash.
 
Due to unknown reasons, Hayward police said a vehicle struck the victim.
 
As a result, emergency crews pronounced him dead at the scene.
 
Officers said the driver of the vehicle, a 27-year-old man, cooperated with them. They did not believe alcohol or other impairments played a role in the collision.
 
As of now, the case remains under investigation. In addition, no other details are available.
