DICKINSON, TX (October 25, 2022) – Paramedics airlifted one person to the hospital following an accident on FM 517 on September 30.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened near Gums Bayou at approximately 5:15 PM.

Based on a report, a Cadillac heading east on FM 517 hit a curb and veered into the westbound lanes. Subsequently, it slammed into an oncoming silver vehicle, causing it to roll into a ditch.

As a result, Dickinson volunteer firefighters had to cut the roof off of the silver vehicle to retrieve the driver and the two passengers inside.

Immediately, crews airlifted the driver of the silver car to UTMB Health’s Level 1 Trauma Center at John Sealy Hospital in Galveston. They sent the silver vehicle passengers and the driver of the Cadillac to area hospitals via ambulance.

As of now, the Dickinson Police Department believes DUI was a factor in the crash. In addition, no other details are available.

Give way to speeding vehicles to avoid an accident. Above all, do not drink and drive. In addition, always manage your speed and follow road regulations.
