GOLDEN, CO (November 21, 2024) — Golden Police Officer Evan Dunn died in an accident on Wednesday, November 6.
 
According to Colorado State Patrol, the accident occurred on Highway 58, just east of Washington Avenue at around 5:00 p.m.
 
CSP said three Golden officers worked at a crash scene on Highway 58. Then, as two of the three officers stood outside along the road managing the site, a vehicle barreled through the scene. It hit both officers.
 
The impact of the incident forced the two officers under the original crashed vehicle. One of them died, while the other sustained serious injuries.
 
On Thursday, the City of Golden identified the officer killed in the crash as 33-year-old Officer Evan Dunn. The city said he is survived by his wife, Annalise, and dog, Remy. A fundraiser was made to help his bereaved family.
 
CSP announced Thursday that troopers arrested 43-year-old Stephen Geer in connection with the incident. They said they charged Geer with several offenses, including vehicular homicide involving DUI and two counts of vehicular assault involving DUI.
