Flavio Balderas, James Griffin Identified in Fatal Lynwood Car Crash

 
LYNWOOD, CA (February 8, 2023) – The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department identified 60-year-old Flavio Balderas of Compton and 20-year-old James Griffin of Los Angeles as two of the three victims who died in a police pursuit crash on State Street on February 5.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at Tweedy Boulevard around 2:10 AM. A police officer saw what he believed was a catalytic converter theft in progress, the station reported. That’s when the would-be thief fled the scene, prompting a police pursuit.
 
Subsequently, a crash occurred involving two more other vehicles. One person died at a hospital and two people died at the crash scene.
 
Two victims were identified by the coroner’s office as Balderas and Griffin.
 
The Los Angeles County Fire Department said paramedics rushed another victim to a hospital for treatment of injuries.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
