Three Killed in Whitewater Car Crash, Cecilia Villalobos Identified

 
WHITEWATER, CA (May 16, 2023) – Officers identified Cecilia Villalobos who was one of three people to died in a car crash on eastbound 10 Freeway on May 14.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened just west Haugen-Lehmann Way around 7:30 AM. Based on a report, a 31-year-old man in a black 2022 Tesla Model 3 was traveling eastbound on the freeway prior to the crash.
 
At the same time, a 39-year-old man in a red 2001 Chevrolet Suburban was traveling in the same direction. Due to unknown reasons, the vehicles crashed, causing the Suburban to lose control and crash into the center divider. The impact caused the vehicle to overturn, eject Villalobos and six of the vehicle’s passengers.
 
As a result, Villalobos, an 8-year-old girl, and a 12-year-old girl died at the scene.
 
Four other passengers, a 3-year-old girl, a 7-year-old male, an 11-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy, sustained major injuries and were taken to the hospital by helicopter. The driver of the Suburban sustained moderate injuries, while the 41-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
