Woman Fatally Struck in Pedestrian Crash on 35 Freeway near Ganzer Road
DENTON, TX (December 11, 2023) — A woman died in a pedestrian accident on the 35 Freeway on Monday, December 4.
The pedestrian crash took place at the on-ramp for 35 Freeway near Ganzer Road at around 10:10 p.m. The driver remained at the scene and dialed 911 to report he hit a pedestrian with his vehicle.
Denton police and firefighters responded to the area. They then found a woman lying in the roadway on the ramp just south of Ganzer Road.
The Denton Fire Department administered medical treatment. However, the woman died at the scene. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office has not released her identity pending notification of her loved ones.
The involved male driver said he did notice the woman at first. He said he attempted to swerve away. Yet, he was unable to prevent hitting her.
Police spokesperson Amy Cunningham said they do not suspect any criminal offense for the driver at this time. Detectives do not believe speed or intoxication played a role in the incident.
Authorities continue to investigate the crash.
