Semi-Truck Accident on 82 Freeway in Sunnyside

 
SUNNYSIDE, WA (March 25, 2024) – Officers confirmed that two people suffered injuries in a semi-truck accident on 82 Freeway on March 11.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened on I-82 two miles east of Sunnyside before 4:00 AM. Based on a report, the victims were in a car heading westbound on the freeway prior to the crash.
 
At the same time, a semi-truck was on the same lane, traveling in front of the car. Due to unknown reasons, the semi-truck slowed down for traffic, causing the to hit its trailer from behind.
 
As a result, the 32-year-old driver and an eight-year-old passenger of the car, both from Richland, were hurt in the incident. Emergency crews took them to Astria Sunnyside Hospital.
 
WSP says the cause of the crash was driving while drowsy.
