Sinthia Fernandez Identified in Fatal Head-On Crash in Merced County

 
MERCED COUNTY, CA (January 24, 2023) – The Merced County Sheriff’s Office identified 22-year-old Sinthia Fernandez as the victim who died in a head-on crash on Gurr Road on January 19.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened just south of Shippee Road around 10:30 AM.
 
Based on a report, Fernandez was driving southbound on Gurr Road at the time of the crash. With Fernandez was a 24-year-old man driving his truck northbound.
 
For an unknown reason, Fernandez veered into the direct path of the truck and crashed. Then, her car overturned on its roof and the truck landed in a nearby canal.
 
As a result, Fernandez suffered fatal injuries in the incident.
 
The man had minor injuries and refused medical treatment.
 
The cause of the crash is still under investigation. No other information is known at this time.
