Sherman Stewart Fatally Struck in Ward County Pedestrian Accident on 20 Freeway

 
WARD COUNTY, TX (January 31, 2024) — 51-year-old Sherman Daniel Stewart of Flagstaff, Arizona, died in a pedestrian accident on Saturday, January 27.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Stewart walked westbound on 20 Freeway near the edge of the roadway at about 6:10 a.m.
 
At the same time, 58-year-old James Earl Evans drove his 2015 Freightliner truck with a trailer. The vehicle also traveled westbound, in the right lane of the 20 Freeway.
 
Texas DPS said for unknown reasons, Stewart stepped out into the traffic lane where Evans struck him.
 
EMS responders pronounced Stewart dead at the scene.
 
The crash is still under investigation. However, there is no further information available.
