Robert Stevens Fatally Injured in Vancourt Pedestrian Accident

 
VANCOURT, TX (June 4, 2024) — A 63-year-old San Angelo man identified as Robert Stevens died in a pedestrian accident on Wednesday, May 22.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the accident occurred at about 10:00 a.m. at 9500 South York Road near Highway 87.
 
The initial investigation said 40-year-old Cody Brazeal drove a 2006 Mack Tanker Truck. While he performed work-related tasks, he accidentally backed over Stevens on the scene.
 
Justice of the Peace Susan Werner pronounced Stevens dead at the scene. Meanwhile, Brazeal was not hurt.
 
Authorities said the road and weather conditions were dry and clear when the crash happened.
 
The Texas Highway Patrol investigated the incident.
