Wilhelm Penders Killed, Christine Dunn and Marcos Huerta Injured in Head-On Accident on Highway 97A [Chelan County, WA]

Wilhelm Penders Identified in Fatal Motorcycle Accident in Chelan County

 
CHELAN COUNTY, WA (June 4, 2024) – Law enforcement identified 59-year old Wilhelm M. Penders of Winthrop who died in a head-on accident on Highway 97A on May 23.
 
The Washington State Patrol said the collision happened just before 5:00 PM. Based on a report, Penders and his passenger, 60-year-old Christine L. Dunn, were traveling northbound on a 2014 BMW R1200 motorcycle.
 
In an attempt to pass a vehicle, Penders moved into the southbound lane. Subsequently, his motorcycle struck an oncoming 2003 Nissan 350Z head-on. The impact threw the two riders onto the road.
 
As a result, Penders suffered grave injuries and later died at Confluence Health Hospital Central Campus in Wenatchee.
 
Dunn was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Both reside in Winthrop.
 
Crews took the driver of the Nissan, 32-year-old Marcos Huerta of Chelan, to Confluence Health with unknown injuries.
 
At this point, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
