Wrong-Way Driver Luis Valdez Identified in Fatal Crash in Martin County

 
MARTIN COUNTY, TX (June 4, 2024) – Officials identified 25-year-old Luis Valdez of Andrews who died in a wrong-way crash on Highway 176 on May 24.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash happened at Mile Marker 278 around 7:50 PM. Based on a report, Valdez was driving a 2019 Mercedes C43 east on the westbound lane of the highway before the crash.
 
Police said the victim was driving at a high speed on the wrong side of the roadway. At the same time, 39-year-old Aaron Huddleson of Gardendale was driving a 2007 Kenworth truck on the westbound lane. Subsequently, Valdez struck Huddleson’s truck.
 
As a result, Valdez suffered grave injuries and died at the scene.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
