Rachael Nuskind Killed, Adriana Samarron and Santiago Samarron Injured in Accident on Highway 114 [Smyer, TX]

Rachael Nuskind Identified in Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash in Smyer

 
SMYER, TX (January 9, 2024) – The Hockley County Sheriff’s Office identified 32-year-old Rachael Leigh Nuskind of Smyer who died in a crash on Highway 114 on January 2.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at FM 168 around 11:40 AM. Based on a report, Nuskind was driving a 2022 Kia Soul north on FM 168 before the crash.
 
At the same time, 68-year-old Santiago Samarron of Levelland was driving a 2011 Dodge Ram east on Highway 114. Due to unknown reasons, Nuskind failed to yield the right of way and collided with the Dodge.
 
As a result, Nuskind suffered grave injuries and died at the scene.
 
Samarron was treated at the scene. His passenger, 64-year-old Adriana Samarron of Levelland, suffered serious injuries in the crash. Crews transported her to Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock for treatment.
 
As of now, the case remains under investigation. In addition, no other details are available.
