Kaylaa Kirkland Identified in Fatal Amarillo Crash on Amarillo Boulevard

 
AMARILLO, TX (January 9, 2024) – The Amarillo Police Department identified 26-year-old Kaylaa Kirkland who died in a crash on Amarillo Boulevard West on December 29.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at Tennessee Street around 3:51 PM. Based on a report, Kirkland was driving a Nissan sedan eastbound on Amarillo Boulevard at a high rate of speed before the crash.
 
At the same time, a Chevrolet Suburban was traveling westbound on Amarillo Boulevard. Due to her speed, Kirkland lost control of her vehicle and slid sideways into oncoming traffic. At that point, the Suburban hit her vehicle’s passenger side.
 
As a result, Kirkland suffered grave injuries in the incident. Emergency crews transported her to an area hospital, where she later died.
 
APD said the driver of the Suburban also suffered serious injuries from the wreck and was transported to a hospital.
 
As of now, the case remains under investigation. In addition, no other details are available.
