SCHERTZ, TX (February 15, 2024) — One person identified as 63-year-old Oscar Silvas died in a pedestrian accident on Thursday, February 8.
 
According to the Schertz Police Department, the crash took place on the 5800 block of Schertz Parkway around 6:00 a.m.
 
Officials said they received reports of an incident involving a deceased pedestrian.
 
Investigators said the pedestrian was a flagger of a nearby business and he tried to block the roadway.
 
A vehicle moving southbound on Schertz Parkway did not notice the flagger resulting in the incident.
 
The driver remained at the scene. Police said impairment did not contribute to the crash. There are no criminal charges filed at this time.
 
Authorities closed Schertz Parkway. They reopened it at about 11:30 a.m.
 
The investigation is still underway.
