NEW WAVERLY,TX (November 17, 2022) – Police confirmed that one person died in a fiery wrong-way crash on 45 Freeway on November 13.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened shortly before 2:00 AM.
 
Based on a report, a Jeep was driving the wrong way on the freeway prior to the crash. Subsequently, it crashed into a passenger car. Then, the vehicle caught fire in the incident.
 
As a result, New Waverly Firefighters and Walker County EMS said the driver of the passenger car died at the scene.
 
A truck driver and other good Samaritans pulled the Jeep driver from the burning vehicle with burns. In addition, a female passenger in the car had serious injuries.
