Bicyclist Nathanial Mardel Struck and Injured by Tyson Hunte in Yakima

 
YAKIMA, WA (July 17, 2023) – Officers identified 27-year-old Nathanial Mardel who suffered serious injuries in a hit-and-run in the 2000 block of Englewood Avenue on July 6.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened at approximately 11:45 PM. Based on a report, 21-year-old Tyson Hunter was driving a late-model ford Mustang west on the road at the time of the crash.
 
Due to unknown reasons, he left the roadway and hit Mardel and a fence. Yakima Police said Hunter drove off without stopping.
 
As a result, Mardel suffered injuries to both arms, broken leg, and head.
 
Officers later located and arrested Hunter for vehicular assault, felony hit and run, and driving while under the influence.
 
At this point, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
