Lorenzo Carmona, DeRichee Nkogallago Identified in Fatal Pile-Up on Highway 349 in Upton County

 
UPTON COUNTY, TX (February 1, 2023) – Officers identified 26-year-old Lorenzo Carmona of Pasadena and 31-year-old DeRichee Nkogallago of Odessa as the victims who died in a crash on Highway 349 on January 26.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened around 6:20 AM.
 
Carmona was driving his 2017 Chevrolet Silverado north on State Highway 349 near Mile Marker 368, about 24 miles south of Midland. Carmona was accompanied by 21-year-old Luis Carmona of Rio Grande City. 22-year-old Mariana Rodriguez and Nkogallago were driving their 2020 Jeep Gladiator and 2021 Ford F-150, respectively, south on Highway 349.
 
The report states that Carmona veered into the southbound lanes, striking Rodriguez’s Jeep, causing it to roll. Carmona’s vehicle then struck the front of Nkogallago’s F-150.
 
Lorenzo Carmona and Nkogallego were pronounced dead at the scene
 
Luis Carmona was transported to Medical Center Hospital in Odessa in critical condition. Rodriguez did not sustain any injuries.
 
As of now, the case remains under investigation.
