Kevin Castillo and Maria Belen Polanco Killed, Elmer Santos Arrested in Crash on Normandie Avenue [Los Angeles, CA]

Maria Belen Polanco, Kevin Castillo Identified in Fatal Hit-and-Run in Los Angeles

 
LOS ANGELES, CA (May 25, 2023) – Officials identified Kevin Castillo of Pomona and Maria Belen Polanco of Los Angeles, both 20, who died in a crash on South Normandie Avenue on May 22.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at approximately 12:40 AM. Based on a report, the victims were in a BMW that that was pulling out of a drive-thru at the corner of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
 
Due to unknown reasons, Elmer Santos of Los Angeles hit their vehicle with his white Jeep Wrangler Rubicon.
 
As a result, both Castillo and Polanco died in the incident. They were students at the University of Southern California.
 
The suspect fled the scene on foot. Authorities arrested and booked him on suspicion of murder.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
