Five Killed in Semi-Truck Accident on 81st Avenue at Highway 86 [Thermal, CA]

Fatal Thermal Accident on 81st Avenue, 5 Dead

 
THERMAL, CA (January 20, 2023) – Officers confirmed five deaths in a fatal accident involving a semi-truck on 81st Avenue on January 14.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at the intersection of Highway 86. Based on a report, a semi-truck driving was traveling on the southbound lane of the highway prior to the crash.
 
At the same time, a Volkswagen Jetta was traveling eastbound on 81st. Due to unknown reasons, the truck entered the intersection and collided with the left side of the Volkswagen.
 
As a result, the driver of the Jetta, a 26-year-old Thermal woman died in the incident.
 
Officers also confirmed the deaths of a 23-year-old Thermal man, a 24-year-old Coachella woman, and two children aged six and seven.
 
The semi-truck driver was not hurt in the crash.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing.
