Zachary Ornelas Dead in Car Crash on 98th Street and University Avenue

 
LUBBOCK, TX (December 21, 2023) — A 24-year-old identified as Zachary Ornelas died in a car accident on Friday, December 8.
 
According to the Lubbock Police Department, the crash took place at 98th Street and University Avenue at 1:11 a.m.
 
LPD said Ornelas drove in an SUV north of University Avenue. Then the vehicle went across multiple lanes. After that, the car hit a utility pole and a City of Lubbock Tornado Warning Pole.
 
When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered Ornelas with serious injuries. Paramedics rushed him to UMC, where he later died.
 
There are no reports of other injuries.
