LAS VEGAS, NV (March 21, 2024) — A woman walking a dog died in a pedestrian accident in Las Vegas on Wednesday, March 13.
 
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police, the crash occurred on East Shelbourne Avenue near South Las Vegas Boulevard and Windmill Lane at about 6:30 p.m.
 
Police said evidence showed that the 52-year-old woman walked with a dog on Shelbourne Avenue. Then a Ford F-150 struck her from behind.
 
Paramedics transported her to UMC, where she died from her injuries. The Clark County coroner’s office has not yet released her identity pending family notification.
 
Authorities later confirmed the woman’s dog is being cared for by a neighbor.
 
Police said the truck’s driver stayed at the scene. She didn’t show any signs of intoxication.
 
Officers said glare from the setting sun is probably a contributing factor to the incident.
 
Authorities continue to investigate the crash.
 
The incident is the 39th traffic-related death in Metro’s jurisdiction.
