BRIGHTON, CO (April 29, 2024) — A woman sustained injuries in a school bus accident on Bridge Street at about 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 11.

According to the Brighton Police Department, a woman drove an Acura MDX west on Bridge Street near 11th Avenue. Then she slammed into the rear of the 27J School District bus that was stopped.

A district spokesman said a driver and 16 middle and high school students occupied the bus when the accident happened. None of them sustained serious injuries, and none needed to be hospitalized.

Brighton police said EMS evaluated the students at the scene as a precaution. Then they released them to their parents or brought them to school.

Paramedics rushed the driver of the Acura, a 34-year-old woman, to a hospital for treatment of injuries. Investigators determined she was at fault for the crash. However, they said speed and impairment were not factors in the accident.
