Woman Fatally Struck in Tempe Hit-and-Run on Loop 202

 
TEMPE, AZ (May 16, 2023) — A woman died in the hit-and-run accident on Loop 202 in Tempe on Thursday, May 11.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, shortly before 9:30 p.m. officials rushed to the westbound lanes of Loop 202 near the Scottsdale Road off-ramp.
 
When troopers arrived at the scene, they discovered a woman was hit in the middle lanes of the freeway. They believe a commercial vehicle hit her. After that, other vehicles struck and hit her after the initial crash.
 
Emergency responders pronounced the 39-year-old woman dead at the scene. They have not yet released her identity, pending the notification of loved ones.
 
Investigators said it is possible that the involved drivers did not notice they had struck the woman. Troopers also did not find see any nearby vehicles that might have belonged to the woman.
