HOUSTON, TX (December 5, 2022) – A woman entering a United States Postal Service office died after a driver accidentally hit their gas pedal on Wednesday, November 30.

Authorities reported the accident in the 2900 block of Rogerdale Road. Initial investigation confirmed that a female driver unintentionally stepped on her gas pedal while trying to brake.

As a result, she struck the female bystander walking into the post office, police said.

The pedestrian died at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle sustained injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

According to the Harris County Vehicular Crimes Division, alcohol and drugs did not seem to be factors in the accident. They furthered that no charges will be charged for now.

However, an investigation is ongoing.
