Woman Killed, Several Injured in Traffic Accident on 10 Freeway

 
COMFORT, TX (May 9, 2024) — A woman struck by an 18-wheeler truck in a traffic accident died on Monday, 29.
 
According to the Texas Highway Patrol, the fatal crash took place on 10 Freeway Eastbound in Comfort near mile marker 523 at about 7:45 a.m.
 
The Texas Highway Patrol said that there was a collision involving a pickup truck and an 18-wheeler.
 
After that accident, a woman stopped to aid with traffic control. She tried to warn approaching drivers to slow down.
 
An 18-wheeler driving eastbound then went onto the center median and tried to avoid the previous crash. However, she struck the woman. She died at the scene.
 
Shortly after, another vehicle crashed with the initial accident.
 
Emergency responders transported the man in that vehicle to University Hospital in San Antonio with unknown injuries. At the same, paramedics also brought several other people to area hospitals for minor injuries.
 
Authorities continue to investigate the crash. There is no further information available at this time.
