Freddy Cain Jr. Killed after Lubbock Bicycle Crash on North University Avenue

 
LUBBOCK, TX (May 9, 2024) — A 63-year-old bicyclist, Freddy Eugene Cain Jr. of Lubbock, died in an accident on Tuesday, April 30.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash took place on North University Avenue near County Road 6100 shortly before 10:15 p.m.
 
Texas DPS said Cain Jr. rode his bike southbound on North University Avenue. Then a vehicle driven by 20-year-old Clyde Johnson, also of Lubbock, struck him.
 
Responding officers pronounced Cain dead at the scene.
 
Meanwhile, Johnson did not sustain any injuries.
 
DPS said the weather and road conditions were clear and dry when the incident happened.
