Pedestrian Fatally Struck after Speeding Crash on 92nd Avenue and Pecos Street

 
FEDERAL HEIGHTS, CO (February 2, 2024) — A woman died in a speeding accident on 92nd Avenue at around 10:41 a.m. on Sunday, January 28.
 
According to the Federal Heights Police Department, the solo-vehicle crash at West 92nd Avenue and North Pecos Street, near the Holiday Plaza businesses.
 
When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a dead female pedestrian on the road. They also found a 1970s yellow Ford Mustang that struck a tree.
 
Based on the preliminary investigation, police said they believe the driver of the Mustang was speeding eastbound. Then he lost control and drove onto the sidewalk. That’s where he struck the pedestrian before he finally crashed into the tree.
 
The driver, only identified as a male, suffered critical injuries and was still inside the vehicle. Paramedics transported the driver to a hospital for treatment.
 
Authorities have not yet released the identity of the pedestrian or the driver.
 
Investigators with the Federal Heights Police Department and the Thornton Police Traffic Division handle the ongoing investigation.
