William Thompson Involved in Crash That Kills Two People on Highway 20 in Grand Prairie

 
GRAND PRAIRIE, TX (April 21, 2023) – Officers arrested 22-year-old William Thompson after a fatal multi-vehicle crash on eastbound Highway 20 on April 9.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at approximately 5:20 PM. near Belt Line Road.
 
Based on a report, Thompson was driving a Chrysler passenger car east on the highway prior to the crash. Subsequently, he lost control and sideswiped a Mercedes passenger car.
 
The impact then pushed the Mercedes towards the right shoulder, where it collided with a Chevy passenger car that was stranded with three passengers.
 
As a result, a man in the Chevy died at the scene. Two other passengers were transported to a local hospital where a second passenger died from their injuries.
 
The third passenger remained in critical condition.
 
Notes from witnesses showed that Thompson was recklessly driving at a high rate of speed. Police arrested and charged him with two counts of manslaughter and one count of aggravated assault.
 
The investigation is ongoing.
