Matthew Hear Identified in Fatal DUI Crash in Phoenix

 
PHOENIX, AZ (April 21, 2023) – Officers identified 46-year-old Matthew Heard as the victim who died in a crash on 19th Avenue on April 9.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at Peoria Avenue around 3:00 AM.
 
Based on a report, Heard was driving east on Peoria at the time of the crash. Due to unknown reasons, he veered into the westbound lanes and struck another vehicle.
 
As a result, Heard and two other people suffered injuries in the incident. Paramedics transported them to the hospital, where Heard later died.
 
The other two victims suffered minor injuries.
 
Police said the driver of the other vehicle showed signs and symptoms of impairment.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing.
