Motorcyclist Virgil Woods Identified in Fatal Accident in Gaines County

 
GAINES COUNTY, TX (November 14, 2023) – Officials identified 60-year-old Virgil Woods of Hobbs who died in a motorcycle accident on Highway 62 on November 5.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at County Road 215. Based on a report, Woods was riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle west down Highway 62 at the time of the crash.
 
Due to unknown reasons, a semi-truck that was driving south County Road 215 failed to yield the right of way at the stop sign. The semi-truck started to cross the westbound lanes of the highway and Woods struck the vehicle’s trailer.
 
As a result, Woods suffered grave injuries and died at the scene.
 
The driver of the semi-truck was not injured in the crash.
 
As of now, the case remains under investigation. In addition, no other details are available.
