Victoria McKenzie Dies in Semi-Truck Accident in Denver City

 
DENVER CITY, TX (April 23, 2024) — 38-year-old Victoria Denise McKenzie, of Plains, died in a semi-truck accident on Friday, April 12.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash occurred on State Highway 83 near FM 769 at around 7:25 a.m.
 
DPS said McKenzie drove a 2017 Buick Envision south on FM 769, toward the intersection with State Highway 83. However, she did not yield to the stop sign. She then struck a 2005 Peterbilt truck tractor towing a 1977 Flatbed trailer.
 
The Buick hit the passenger side of the Peterbilt at the diesel tank. It caused it to veer into the eastbound lane of Highway 83. The impact caused the truck to separate from the trailer. After that, the trailer hit a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado on the driver’s side.
 
McKenzie died at the scene from sustained injuries in the accident.
 
The driver of the Peterbilt identified as 47-year-old Roland Chatham and the driver of the Chevrolet, 34-year-old Guadalupe Manual Avila, suffered injuries. Responding officers transported them to Yoakum County Hospital for treatment.
