Velva Arnold Killed in Solo-Vehicle Car Crash in Tyler

 
TYLER, TX (April 18, 2023) — A passenger identified as 50-year-old Velva V. Arnold of Overton died after a car crash on Friday, April 7.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the incident happened at around 12:15 p.m. on FM 850, about 5 miles east of Tyler.
 
Arnold was a passenger in a vehicle driven by 62-year-old Ronald J. Williams, of Overton. Then the vehicle drifted off the roadway and struck a tree, DPS said.
 
Paramedics rushed Arnold to UT Health in Tyler where she died of sustained injuries at 12:55 p.m. on Friday. She was not wearing a seat belt during the incident, according to DPS.
 
At the moment, Williams continues to receive treatment at a Tyler hospital for incapacitating injuries, DPS said. He wore a seat belt at the time of the crash.
 
Reports said it was raining and roads were wet during the incident.
