Jorge Villalobos Dies in Austin Hit-and-Run Accident

 
AUSTIN, TX (April 18, 2023) — Authorities identified Jorge Luis Sanchez Villalobos as the victim of a hit-and-run crash on Sunday, April 9.
 
According to the Austin Police Department, the incident happened at 2:16 a.m. in the 600 block of the North Interstate 35 service road northbound near 6th Street.
 
APD and Austin-Travis County EMS received a call about a crash between two vehicles and a person crossing the street.
 
The initial investigation showed that the driver of a Kia Forte hit Sanchez Villalobos. After that, the car left the scene after hitting another vehicle.
 
Sanchez Villalobos later succumbed to sustained fatal injuries on the scene.
 
Authorities described the vehicle as a 2016 to 2018 blue Kia Forte, a four-door vehicle, with heavy front damage.
 
The investigation is still underway. Anyone with information can call APD’s Vehicular Homicide Unit at 512-974-8111. APD offers a reward of up to $1,000 to anyone with information that leads to an arrest.
 
This incident is Austin’s 29th fatal crash of 2023, resulting in 29 fatalities for the year.
