SAN DIEGO, CA (January 31, 2023) – The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office identified 22-year-old Vanessa Urbina Aragonez of Arizona as the victim who died in an accident on Riviera Drive on January 22.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened in the 3400 block of Riviera Drive in the Crown Point area 7 shortly before 1:30 AM.
 
Based on a report, Aragonez and a man were standing next to a parked Chevrolet Tahoe on a sidewalk at the time of the crash. Due to unknown reasons, a Toyota Tacoma veered off the roadway and hit them.
 
As a result, Aragonez died at the scene.
 
Her 24-year- old companion was pinned underneath the pickup truck. Crews took him to a hospital for treatment of injuries.
 
San Diego police arrested the 22-year-old driver of the Toyota on suspicion of murder and vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing.
