Robert Brown, Juan Taylor and Jaeden Servantez Charged in Edinburg Hit-and-Run
EDINBURG, TX (September 11, 2024) – The Edinburg Police Department charged three UTRGV athletes in a hit-and-run on 21st Avenue on September 3.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at University Drive. Based on a report, 19-year-old Robert Brown was driving a gray Chevy Silverado near the intersection at the time of the crash.
Due to unknown reasons, he hit a bicyclist and left the scene without rendering aid.
As a result, the cyclist suffered severe injuries in the incident. Emergency crews transported the victim to an area hospital in serious condition.
Police charged Brown with an accident involving serious bodily injury and failure to report with a bond of $60,000. They also charged his passengers, 19-year-old Juan Taylor and 18-year-old Jaeden Servantez, with failure to report a felony with a bond of $10,000. All three teens are student-athletes at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
