Fatal Cheney Motorcycle Accident on South Spotted Road and West Melville Road

 
CHENEY, WA (September 11, 2024) — A rider died following a motorcycle accident on South Spotted Road on Monday, September 2.
 
According to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened at about 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of South Spotted Road and West Melville Road.
 
The initial investigation determined that a female driver of a vehicle traveled south on South Spotted Road with a young female passenger. Then she attempted to turn left onto West Melville Road.
 
After that, she crossed into the path of the northbound motorcycle. The rider tried to brake but could not avoid the collision.
 
Firefighters from Spokane County Fire District responded to the scene and then provided medical treatment to the male motorcycle rider. After that, they transported him to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Medical personnel later pronounced him dead.
 
The driver and passenger of the vehicle sustained minor cuts and scrapes.
 
Authorities believe failure to yield the right of way is a key factor in the incident.
 
The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased and details about the cause of death when available.
