Passenger Dies in Hit-and-Run Uber Crash on Interstate 880 in San Leandro

 
SAN LEANDRO, CA (December 19, 2022) – An Uber passenger was killed while the driver was injured after a hit-and-run on Interstate 880 at the Davis Street on-ramp on Sunday.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened in the morning involving a car driving for Uber. Based on reports, the 31-year-old passenger was on her way to work when the accident happened.

For unknown reasons, a wrong-way vehicle crashed into the Uber, CHP say.

The female passenger succumbed to her injuries and died at the scene.

The Uber driver sustained hand injuries. According to the driver of the Uber, he can only recall seeing the headlight of the incoming vehicle prior to the collision.

Authorities are now in pursuit of the wrong-way driver who fled the scene without rendering aid.

Witnesses are encouraged to contact the CHP for any information that can help with the proceedings of this case.
